5 Day Rwanda Gorilla Trek And Lake Kivu Safari
This 5day Rwanda Gorilla Trek and Lake Kivu Safari will take you in Volcanoes National park for Gorillas and Golden monkeys, Nyungwe Forest national park for Chimpanzee trekking and on Lake Kivu for Boat cruise to see Crocodiles and Hippos as well as birds endemic to this region. Crown the safari with a visit to a Genocide memorial site in Kigali.

Requirements for this Safari
-A Visa – you can apply for the visa online or very easily get one at the point of entry into the country (airport)
-Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking permits – You can apply and secure these on line but experience has shown that it is better coordinated when you send money to the tour firm to handle it for you at no extra cost to the standard fee
-Travel & Health insurance – This should be arranged by you in your home country before you travel.
-Physical fitness.

DAY 1. Arrival in Rwanda and Transfer to Volcanoes National park.
You will be met by our Safari guide and driver at the airport who will transfer you to the hotel booked for you in Ruhengeri near Volcanoes National park. You will have lunch and in the afternoon be taken for a scenic drive in the park for 2 – 3 hours to view the splendid volcanic mountain landscapes. After there, you will return to your booked hotel for the dinner and overnight.
DAY. 2. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park and transfer to Nyungwe Forest.
You will wake up early in the morning for the breakfast and after at around 8: 30am you will go to the volcanoes national park headquarters for the briefing on the rules to be observed during gorilla trekking. You will be alocated to the gorilla family and the guide rangers will lead you to the gorillas. The trekking normally takes 2-5 hours and upon sighting the gorillas, it takes one hour to spend with them after which you will return to the lodge for lunch and later after transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park arriving in the late afternoon. You will have dinner and overnight at the hotel booked for you.
DAY 3. Chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest national park.
You will wake up very early in the morning, have breakfast and then go to Nyungwe park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers on Golden monkey trekking rules. You will after the briefing start the trek in search for Golden monkeys in the verdant rain forest. During the trek you will also get achance to see other primates like the Silver monkey, Rwenzori colobus, Chimpanzees, the Grey cheeked Mangabey, L’hoests monkey and the Owl faced monkey. There after you will return to the lodge for the dinner and overnight.
DAY 4. Travel to Kibuye and Boat cruise on Lake Kivu
You will wake up very early in the morning for the breakfast and go to Gisenyi for Boat cruise on Lake Kivu to see water animals such as crocodiles and hippos as well as birds endemic to this region. You will meet the fishermen who will explain to you how they go about their trade and allow you to participate in the fishing. Later you will return to your booked lodge for the dinner and overnight.
DAY 5. Transfer back to Kigali and departure.
You will wake up very early in the morning for your breakfast and then travel to Kigali city. Depending on your flight shedule, you may also have acity tour in Kigali where you will visit the Genocide memorial sites and the colorful markets for souvenirs before being transferred to the Airport for your departure flight.
